An Evening With SQL Server

This month's meeting will feature three short sessions, two of which include SQL Server.

The agenda is:

PowerSQL(CLR)

and access operating system objects.

What's New With SQL Server 2008 R2

Presenter: Jeff Ammons

Description: .Net and Visual Studio had full releases for 2010, but SQL Server, like Windows Server 2008, received upgrades as well, just not full release level upgrades. If you are curious what's new in this release, then this is the session for you.

Coming In October

Windows Phone 7 Contest?

OK, so far we haven't had enough people enter the contest for it to be an actual contest...

I'm setting a deadline of this Thursday's meeting to confirm that you are indeed working on an app for our contest in October. If I don't get at least three people registered, we won't have the contest.

If we do have three people enter, we'll hold the contest during our regular meeting time, Thursday, October 14.

iPhone and iPad Development With MonoTouch

We will have a special meeting on Thursday, October 7th, featuring Wally McClure. Wally has spoken to GGMUG in the past and is always an engaging speaker. He is a prolific writer of technical books from Knoxville, TN, who will be in town the first week of October.

Please note that this is NOT our normal night, so mark both the 7th and 14th on your calendar.

If you are interested in writing for the iDevices of the world, but would really like to use .Net to do so, then do NOT miss this meeting!

Phone 7 Contest

Don't forget GGMUG's Phone 7 development contest!

You can develop an app either with Silverlight or XNA, and the app voted best at our October meeting will be crowned the winner. We have some exciting prizes lined up too!

The rules are simple:

  • You must attend the October meeting.
  • You must have attended at least one previous meeting.
  • You must demo your app at the October meeting.
  • Winners will be decided by a vote of the members present that night.

You need to let me know ASAP if you want to enter. So far I only know of one person who is definitely working on an app, so his odds of winning are 100%! There will be multiple prizes, so your odds of winning a cool prize are extremely high.
